Item Condition Description: Used (Good) – Fully functional with all straps, hardware, and closures intact. These rucksacks were issued and used in the field, so they will show signs of wear such as fading, scuffs or minor stains from service. These may have repairs IE buckle replacement, buttons, stitching. No major damage that would affect usability. Rucksacks may have holes on the drawstring cover no larger than what's in the above image. These are fully functional. Note: Items are picked at random, so the exact level of wear will vary. This image is for reference only. Frames have been inspected and don't contain any cracks or fractures.

  • Complete disassembled M81 rucksack. They are disassembled so a smaller box can be used and provide cheaper shipping. There are videos on youtube that show how to assemble the rucksack.
  • Comes with the main pack, 2 sustainment pouches, sleep system carrier, shoulder straps, waist pad, frame and 6 mag bandoleer.
Two-piece pack design
  • Separate upper main rucksack and lower sleep system carrier (MSS).
  • The MSS clips underneath the main pack instead of being integrated.
  • Allowed soldiers to remove the sleep carrier for lighter missions.
Black Down East polymer frame
  • Usually DEI 1601 or early 1602 black frames.
  • More ergonomic than ALICE metal frames.
  • Flexible polymer reduced noise and improved comfort.
  • Early frames had a reputation for cracking under extreme cold or abuse. With this being said I've personally been doing 65lb 3 mile rucks once a week for the past 3 years and I haven't seen any cracks or stress fractures yet.
Main pack capacity
  • Roughly 2,500-3,000 cubic inches in the upper pack.
  • Sleep system carrier added another ~2,000 cubic inches.
  • Two sustainment pouches added about 1,000 more combined.
  • Total capacity around 5,500-6,000 cubic inches depending on setup.
Modular sustainment pouches
  • Includes two detachable side sustainment pouches.
  • MOLLE/PALS compatible.
  • Commonly used for chow, wet-weather gear, or ammo.
Hybrid attachment methods
  • Some early packs still retained ALICE-style webbing in places.
  • Transitional gear often mixed ALICE compatibility with newer MOLLE webbing.
Radio pocket and claymore pouch
  • Internal radio sleeve for SINCGARS radios.
  • External "claymore pocket" could also store magazines or admin gear.
  • Included in this pack is the removable bandoleer insert.
Heavy-load capability
  • Designed for 100+ lb combat loads.
  • Much better hip load transfer than ALICE.
  • The frame stood off the back slightly to improve airflow and allow hydration carriers behind the frame.
3 day assault pack (not included)- The 3 day assault pack was made to integrate into this system via buckles and the main lid

Sizing Charts

To measure chest size: Measure from armpit to armpit and multiply by 2. For example-if you measured 20in between your armpits, and multiplied by 2, that would give you a 40in chest measurement. You would need to purchase a size medium.

To measure pants size: Waist- Lay down a well-fitting pair of pants and measure from one side of the waist to the other and multiply by 2. Inseam- Measure starting from the crotch seam intersection and go down the inner leg seam to the bottom of the hem. Reference these measurements with the chart.

To measure hat size: Measure the circumference of your head slightly above your ears. Reference your measurement with the above chart.

When purchasing a jacket or Gore-Tex pants you may want to size up if you plan on wearing layers underneath.
